Ethics Training
The importance of conveying your values to your team can't be overemphasized. The key to an ethical business culture begins at the top. Without leadership that lives the culture and walks the walk, all the ethics codes and grand statements are meaningless. Remember one of the most elegant ethics codes ever set down was at Enron. Its CEO Ken Lay never tired of talking about ethics while all the time using every smarmy trick in the book to manipulate the price of energy and lying to his partners, his investors.
The Great Lakes Group does not do business with companies that do not display a sincere effort to maintain the highest standards in its dealings with all those who come in contact with them. The Ethical Business Model demands that, employees, customers, the community, vendors, the environment, lenders, and investors all come before profit. Ethics Training is a waste of time unless those standards are met day in and day out.
We are happy to work with companies who adhere to these standards. We will help design materials and workshops to convey these standards and imbue them into the corporate culture. Formal ethics training has unfortunately become a necessity in our litigious society. Any company can stumble, and any company can have a bad hire do serious damage. In those cases, to be able to demonstrate to the courts that every effort to maintain high standards, including formal Ethics Training was undertaken.
That said, once again, we do not offer our services at any level to those who are looking to cover bad behavior. In fact quite the contrary. Our background in investigative journalism leads us to expose those who would attempt to use our services in such a manner. We don't do spin, it doesn't work anyway. As the saying goes, "Truth Will Out."
